can we travel back in time ?

For example, I want to travel to 1910 and warn of an imminent danger to the world..Hitler !!

The obvious problem would be since you warned the world of hitler and hitler didn't happen, then you wouldn't currently know to go warn the world of hitler.

Or people could just think you're crazy. I try to warn people about Medicare being actuarially impossible and no one listens or takes me seriously.

This may be a sarcastic question, but I'm bored, so here goes... as you approach the speed of light (3*10^8 m/s), the speed at which things happen slows down, so an hour earth will only seem like a fraction of time on a ship traveling at a speed near the speed of light [a relativistic speed]. So if you slow down as you approach 3*10^8 m/s, what happens when you surpass 3*10^8 m/s? Well, some people think that time may go backwards. However, since nobody can, as of yet, approach relativistic speeds, we don't know if you could actually go back in time. Thank you for my little physics review. Good luck with that though :)

According to Einstein no because we would have to travel faster than the speed of light which is impossible because then time itslef will just slow down. Also, physicist and philosophers have tow theories. If you went back through time to stop Hitler you wouldn't have gone back in time anyway because Hitler wouldn't have done anything. So you have a Catch 22 situation. Another theory is, everything is meant to happen so you instead of Hitler, someone else will do his bad deeds.

If you could travel back in time, then you could theoretically do something to destroy the reason you went back in time, which would make no sense. It could work, but then your reason for going back in time would be adjusted to suit what you did when going back in time. Does it really make sense for your actions to be affected by something you haven't done yet?

However, if you could travel from one place to another faster than the speed of light, then you could travel backwards in time. And traveling faster than light is actually not prohibited by any theory, if you can find some way to get that fast without ever being exactly at the speed of light.

I don't believe it can be done. I'm no scientist but if it could be done someone would have done it already. If time travel (to the past) would be possible things would be changing left and right as I'm sure there will be good people in our future who would do anything to prevent millions of children starving to death each year. That's all I have to say.
