There are several great places to eat downtown. It depends on what he likes and what you want to spend. Here are my top 5 and briefly why.

1. Morton's of Chicago - It's the priciest but the food is phenominal. They specialize in steak and seafood.

2. Zocalo's - probably the nicest Mexican food restaurant downtown

3. Frank Fat's - been the best Chinese food down town since WWII

4. Rio City Cafe - a large patio deck for a meal right on the river, the menu is a bit limited but they have a little bit of something for everyone

5. Firehouse - Another goo American Cuisine restaurant in historic old town

Avoid the Delta King. I. and Everyone I know who has eaten there. has been dissappointed with the food for the price point.

For more ideas you can check out the dining section of the Bee on weekends.

Just drive a couple miles up Hwy 5 and go to the Hungry Hunter if Dad likes beef.
The Rusty Duck is virtually next door to the Hungry Hunter and it is a good choice

Rio City Cafe is awesome. It's on the river. You should call and see if there are still reservation spots available.

Try Zagats.com. I have ALWAYS found great places on there. My family lives in Redding and we use it to try new places when we visit Northern California
