The 2008 olympics? They think he will be older, beat up, maybe he doesn't have the passion to play in the olympics anymore...

Allen Iverson is no longer the selfish player that he once was. He is still the scorer that he always was but his shots are wiser and his assists are up. The problem is that the U.S. lost in the Olympics because they didnt have enough pure shooters on the team. They need people who are a little more versitle. I think Iverson should still be on the team because he was one of the lone bright spots on that dismal team. No one would be talking about this if Kobe, Ray Allen, and a few other players hadnt backed out last minute. We would have won the gold easily

Okay Mikeheffs considering Bruce Bowen was asked to play (he will be 37) but anyways Allen Iverson is not the kind of person you would want representing your country. He might score 30 points a game but his team didn't even make the playoffs and he deffinately has the supporting cast, a selfish player isn't part of the team aspect that the U.S. is looking for this year.

him being old or selfish has nothing to do with it..
allen iverson despite his age seems like he gets stronger every year.. he is a b-ball player in a little football player's body
he takes millions of shots.. but he is far from being selfish.. just look at his assists stats
i have no idea why he didn't make the team.. maybe it's because he was on it the last two times? i can't call it.. but he deserves to be there

it's no big deal. That doesnt take anything away from A.I. I still think he's one of the best in the NBA now. So passionate about the game. There are just too mnay players of his size in the NBA now. I think I heard before that he was also considered but they were more inclined towards a defensive oriented player.

He was asked to be on the Olympic Team and would of easily made it but he said that he wants to spend time with his family not playing for the USA. His choice. Or maybe that was for FIBA but im sure its one of those.

Look what he did the last time. Between him and Marbury they couldn't hit a shot from anywhere. And his tension that he brings to every coach is inexcusable.

They said that they wanted players that are unselfish, and they wanted team players. Looking at AI's history that's not him. Not taking anything away from his game, because he's sick, it's just that they need more team unity.
