First try to memorize the abbreviations. Its easiest to do it by menu category. First start with the appetizers and work forward. Then after getting those down, start going for the descriptions. Its easier than it looks because most descriptions are kind of obvious after looking at the name of the menu item.

I have been a waitress for 4 years now, so the menu is always changing, the only thing that worked for me is just use it during the job, selling the food is the biggest memory helper. There is no way to learn ALL of the details, but knowing the majority is the first thing, the customer usually fills in the rest!!

Divide it into the types of foods (pasta dishes, sandwiches, sides, drinks, etc.)

Study each section in the same order, but study the sections in different orders.

Also, have someone practice ordering with you or the other way around..having someone else to help you remember is a great way to memorize things.

write the descriptions on index cards, but shorten them up a little bit or add some words that you think would help you remember it better

try doing it via food groups in your head and picture the food. I am very visual so this helps me.
