i live in a housing complex where the mailboxes are like two years old and the paint is chipping off. i'm suggesting that I paint the mailboxes for $20.

hell no. I would just buy another one. A steel mailbox is less than ten bucks and colored decorative ones are nice for 30 some. I wouldn't suggest repainting unless your feeling ya manhood and wanna be crafty. If its a housing area where all mailboxes are the same then i would buy some cheaper paint maybe even spray paint. go to LOWES and find a 15-20 dollar mailbox... most come with 5 year warranties so weather is not a factor. Just don't go Postal....good luck!

Not me. I would round up all the spray paint in the garage and let the kids do it. They get to be creative and you can laugh every time you see the box.

Nope- paint it yourself and get the feeling of accomplishment, personal satisfaction
take the $ saved and do something else with it

why pay $20, when you can pay $5. spray paint section of almost any store will have paint, even for metal.

Depends on the box, what did it cost? New rural box for $19.99... If you don't want to paint it yourself, that is why you pay $20.00! It is fair if they provide the paint.
