Okay, the essay must be well-developed, which means you fully explain your ideas and reasoning. Multi-paragraph, obviously, means more than one paragraph.
The essay should be about Poe's poetry. Specifically, you need to explain what was 'musical' about his poetry (how it flowed together like a song), how his poetry described beauty, and how it was logically composed (how it was layed out so it made sense.)
I would suggest at least one paragraph for each of the three things you need to talk about, plus one paragraph for an introduction and one for a conclusion (ie, his poetry sucked, it was good, whatever).

You need to write about Poe's poetry is musical, expresses beauty, and is logically composed, which is how Poe himself describes his poetry. I would recommend tackling each of those aspects in a separate paragraph, starting with the musical aspect of his work, then the "expressive of beauty" aspect, and the "logically composed" aspect. I'm assuming you understand basic 5-paragraph essay form; this prompt fits neatly into that form. Good luck!

Basically, it's saying that Edgar Allan Poe said his poetry is musical, expressive of beauty and logically composed.
You have to write an essay telling them why that's true.
Like taking the Pro side on a debate.

Well that is not very well worded. I can see why you dont understand it. I think they want you to write a logical description of how and why Poe's poetry is beautiful and expressive. And musical.

sounds like you need to read Poe's writing and choose the pieces that reflect a certain "Melody" (Musical) which could mean rhyming or how the lines flow easily together. Espressive of beauty- what in his writings are beautiful? Does he write about one certain thing or many different things? How is his writing logical? Does it makes sense? Which parts make sense and which do not. Don't forget to give examples of each, and go into depth about each one - and always give your opinion on it. When you quote something directly, dont forget to state that on the paper!
Hope this helps.. good luck!

You probably need to explain/give examples of how Poe's poetry is musical (it flows and has rhythmn), in one paragraph. Write another paragraph giving examples/explaining how it expresses beauty, and another explaining how his poems are composed in a logical manner. Go to websites that analyze his works.

Okay, so Poe thinks that his poetry is:
1. musical
2. expressive of beauty
3. logically composed.
YOU have to write an essay (well-developed & multi-paragraphed) that proves his point. it's easier to write an essay like that if you agree with his viewpoint... hopefully you do. does that help?
