I'm doing a variety of things and going to a variety of places: Glacier Bay, Denali, environmental lectures, spending a day with the natives, boating(whales *fingers crossed* and lots of glaciers), white water rafting, and more! I already know about the bugs, and the frequent rainfall but if theres something that wouldnt be in a guide then I would be really excited to know!

I live here in Alaska. First of all the Interior, Fairbanks and area, is quite dry. We get about 7 inches of rain a year. South of Denali is where all the rain is.

Bugs are not that bad if you protect yourself with the right repellent such as DET, Off, etc.

As a tourist, don't book your excursions till you get here. By doing so before, you lock your self into choreographed guided tours and you may miss a lot. Each of the major cities Fairbanks, Anchorage, have visitors reception buildings which you can select the tours you want.

Also use the Alaskan train to get around. Train runs from Anchorage through Denali to Fairbanks. Also from Seward to Anchorage plus other routes.

Have a great time.

the mosquitoes are HUGE. Buy Avon's "Skin So Soft" as an effective repellant that isn't filled with a ton of weird chemicals.
