What sense does it make to gripe about the food we eat and yet allow companies to make millions while other people suffer the hurt of watching and have to lay to rest a loved one. Knowing a product kills and selling it to make a living sounds like hit man work to me.

1 word, money. They dont care about the public's health as long as they have the money. It does actually cause danger to the public who dont smoke, second hand smoke is a killer!

Because we have (or at least we used to have) freedom of choice. People want to smoke, for whatever reason, and companies provide that product. It's not a choice I would make, but it's an accepted practice in our society.
You and I may have very different views about what people should and shouldn't be able to eat, drink, read, watch, etc. but who is to decide? If you find something I do offensive and wish to ban it, what's to stop me from turning around and trying to ban you from doing something you may enjoy, because I find it offensive to me? Where does it end?

Because the tobacco companies aren't breaking into your house in the middle of the night, strapping you to the bed, then forcing you to smoke. What people choose put in their own bodies (as long as it poses no IMMEDIATE danger to others) should not be of any concern to the government.

The tobacco industry is evil and they seem to get out of alot of stuff. The best we can all do is boycott and never smoke.

because there is money to be made off of the addiction that they give you of cigarettes - junk food etc - it is sad to think a company is based on the weakness of others.... and we all have weaknesses!

Its becuse that cigs are old. If someone just now started to make cigs it would be out lawd so fast.

it rather is because of the fact human beings who smoke are the two rather stupid (the working type ones, regularly) or have substantial psychological well-being issues (the middle type ones, regularly). of course, some be bothered by the two those issues. regrettably, they make their households go through too.
