Current - I'm going with Jeff Foxworthy. He's not only funny, he's able to connect with a large audience, and works clean. It's easier to get people to laugh if you yell "pee pee!," if only from surprise, but harder to build a laugh without resorting to cheap humor.
Past - Tom Lehrer (writer of satirical songs including "We Will All Go Together When We Go") or Buster Keaton.
