More then likely you can't. If the system originally came with windows 95 you probably do not have the minimum requirements hardware wise to do the install (300 mhz, 64 mb ram, 1.5 gb hard drive space). If you do meet the minimum however, you will need to purchase a full version of windows xp, Windows 95 does not meet the requirements for an upgrade version.
Hope this helps.

Provided you have a machine capable of doing the job (P3 or equivilant, 256 MB memory, and a 4+ GB hard Drive and a CD-ROM) it is a fairly simple matter.

If you are trying to UPGRADE 95 to XP you need a full version or upgrade version NOT an OEM version. If you have the correct version, you simply put the disc in the drive, and run setup from the CD. It will take an hour or so depending or the speed of your computer.

If you are wiping the machine out and either have a backup of your data or don't care about it, you can use a full version or a OEM version to do the job, but you will need to be able to boot from your CD ROM. Set the boot order in your bios to boot from cd before hard disk, put in the CD and just follow the instructions as they come up. It would take a substantial ammount of space to cover all the details, so I will leave it at that. Most people who can use a computer can do this, and you can find more detailed instructions on the web by using Yahoo Search.

First off, more than likely since you're running Windows 95, you must have an older computer. You need to find out how much memory your computer's hard drive can hold. I know for a fact that you comfortably need about 2.5GB of space on your hard drive to even successfully load Windows XP alone on your computer besides any other programs you may want to install. Again, would be helpful to know what kind of system you are working with.

First of all, if the computer is running Windows 95 and it is really that old, you most likely won't WANT to run XP on the computer, need more specifics about your computer though..

With the XP installation CD you can insert it into the computer on Boot and it will begin its installation on its own, if the computer supports booting off of the cd, again , need more specifics of your computer...

If your computer is currently running Windows 95, I do not reccomend installing Windows XP. It will slow your system down tremendously. My best advice is to go out and purchase the cheapest computer you can (if you have a limited budget) and it will be much faster at running XP than your current system.
