Racism is an unfortunate side effect of a psychological necessity. The reason we lump things into groups is to help us spot patterns and danger. For example, if you eat red berries from a bush with little pink flowers and get sick, you won't eat berries from any bush that looks like that, even if it's a different bush. Perhaps you get attacked by a large cat looking creature, and somehow get away. Afterword, it is smart to be cautious about all cat- looking animals. Racism will never really end, because there simply isn't time for anyone to meet EVERYONE on the planet. Every one would have to spend time with and get to know every single individual on a one-on-one basis. Best to work on bigger problems first, like food and water shortages. We'll come back to racism when we're immortal.

When parents teach their children it is wrong. And those teach theirs, and so on. Maybe it will happen. When everyone has the ability forget past transgressions by "the other side" and no body gives it credence any longer. Social programs should be for all, and not a select group, race, religion or socioeconomic class.
Note: Stop thinking its ignorance, it’s just plain mean, nasty hurtful, and unjust behaivior that should not be tolerated. Ignorance is a lack of knowledge. Most modern racist use vast amounts of knowledge combined with history and excuses to support and justify their remarks and actions. Modern hatred is more complex than ever before and flows in all directions, between (Simple terms here) Black-White-Red-Yellow-and any color combination you can think of. It does not stop their either. This nation has spend more money on programs, education, awareness, and the like than most third world countries spend on its military. Even Hollywood has offered a few heart wrenching files, most based on true stories that should touch every heart that is educated beyond the first grade level. Want to get a glimpse of one that has a powerful message. Rent view and get real with “A Time to Kill”. We are all mutts here, in a country that if it were to take place today would hand out some serious @ss kicking to the aggressors. Plymouth Rock Ring any bells. The trail of tears? Oh I am sorry to those who don’t get it. (Not.) We are lucky to be here, and need to remember what really happened. Sound like hypocrisy? I am proud to be an American, as should we all. Many peoples fought and died here and all the good parts melded together. We still have a long way to go. Respect everyone heritage, but when the day come I see an application that lacks race and sex then we might be where we all say we want to be. National origin?! Come on look around you. We come from every where (Heritagely speaking) I am 46, never owned a slave, never was, glad for it. Never scalped an Indian, never got scalped. (That crap was started by British mercs as a way to collect a fee) The Indians were just doing the old “ Prid Pro Quo” The actions of some depraved individuals cannot be excused, nor can the perpetuation of those actions. Have a nice day….End of Rant….Peace!

racism will never end, because human beings like difference. It makes inadequate people feel superior if they can put another group of people down. It gives their little lives some meaning if they can feel safe within their skin colour. We cant put a stop to all racism, (human nature is quite savage at heart) but what we can do is try to change within society, and that is people who are committed to change, committed to trying to put an end to racial violence must group together, the internet is a brilliant way, and speak with many voices, not just as individuals shouting into the wind. Change has got to start with children, they are the leaders, racists, business people, consumers, and Parents of tomorrow. All schools should implement intercultural learning, sharing of cultures, value and customs, religions. Unfortunately schools cant even stop bullying (which is often racially motivated). The reason racism is so hard to tackle is that racists are bullies, and people who celebrate diversity and share a wonder in all the cultural differences, skills and talents that we can share in a multicultural/intercultural society, are not bullies, and are usually more passive. Passive versus aggressive - he who shouts louder! I hate racism. I detest the thought of someone being shunned/coldshouldered/even killed, because they had the wrong colour skin. I feel that we should put our actions where our feelings are, and speak out. When we hear a racist comment, tackle the person. When we see overt racism in the media, tackle it, send emails, make our voices heard, if the loudest voices are the racists, then we have to play them at their own game. Insist that preschools include a programme of intercultural learning, lobby policy makers, make our voices heard!!!!

I believe that there are two possiblities to this. One is that racism will never end, it is something that is taught and seems to be becoming part of the American culture. Another possiblity is that a "pure race" seems to becoming a scaricty. It may be possible that the mixing of the races will become so common that humanity will no longer be able to identify people by thier complexion. This may end racism but it will not stop discrimination all together.

I'm truly surprised and saddened that it hasn't already. I think it's linked very closely with education. There are problems in the educational system of the United States; I don't think anyone can deny that, but I'm really referring to education in a broader sense, including emotional and psychological education. Our society, the world society, has to come to terms with cultural and racial differences and stop seeing them as indicators of a person's worth. Everyone deserves to be valued simply for who they are. Unfortunately, I think many people don't get that, and I don't believe the world as a whole will during our lifetimes. Perhaps it's true that once the human race becomes so amalgomized that race is no longer apparent, racism will finally meet its end. I fear that unless some very radical changes are made in the way we introduce our children to the diversity of a world society, it will not be much sooner.

Racism and Hatred stem from Fear. It seems most people are afraid of things that are different to them such as different cultures, a difference in someones sexuality, or just a difference in the way someone looks or dresses. When people meet someone or see or hear something that takes them out of their "comfort zone" it usually scares them. When people learn to open up and accept each others differences, in this country/world, then can racism truly be a thing of the past. When you change whats inside of you then can things on the outside change as well.

The human mind learns by classifying things according to their differences. For example, you could not survive if you did not classify things that are a threat to your safety differently than those that are not.
Ideas and acts known as racism are the result of classification according to race. Stereotypes are a perfect example of this.
So... where there is difference in race there will be racism. Where there is no difference in race there will be other differences we use to classify whether someone is a threat to us or not.

racism is only in America but discrimination against culture, skin color, and etc is taken place around the world. like in china people of the south are way different than north cuz of the way they talk and look and height. its not a racist issue cuz they all are chinese. sadly it will never end cuz ppl has been fighting over it for centuries...

I don't think racism will ever end. Listen to my reasons:
For people to succeed, they need to feel good about themselves, which means that they often have to put themselves ahead of others, often of other races. If racism stops, self-esteem lowers, and the economy will virtually collapse.
As hard as it is to visualize thsi, it is completely true.

Never because as people we all have flaws, and some people will never realize that everybody bleeds the color red. Why must we all try to put our selves above each other when our creator loves us the same. Also for PARTY ANIMAL, in every race there is an idiot and a disgrace, and whatever race you are, you are living proof.
