Avenged Sevenfold
Bleeding Through
Megadeth
Demon Hunter
If you have heard of all of them then you know your metal but it is ok if you have not. Listen to them.
And tool sucks.

I like a lot of different genres including metal, rock, classical, and jazz, but metal is my favorite. Here are some of my favorite bands:
Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Manowar, Manilla Road, Fates Warning, Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, Megadeth, Bruce Dickinson, Cage, Motörhead, Running Wild, Slayer, Metal Church, Pagan's Mind, Testament, Exodus, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Twisted Tower Dire, Slough Feg, Hibria, Immortal, Emperor, Bathory, Windir, Summoning, Helloween, Stratovarius, Kamelot, Persuader, Death, Behemoth, Nile, Vader
Avenged Sevenfold, Tool, Mudvayne, Bleeding Through, and Demon Hunter are not real metal.
