the majority of americans are "sheeple" who have been conditioned to accept whatever the media presents to them as truth. look at how many people swallowed bush's lies about the weapons of mass destruction iraq was supposed to have had. i mean they were right, iraq once did have such weapons - our government had the receipts - they sold the weapons to saddam - who btw was trained by the cia - go figure

I think Americans like everyone else on the planet are completely focused on their own lives, most can't see the bigger picture or care too. It's nothing special that Americans divide themselves up based on Political Philosophies that we now call conservative and liberal.
Everyone needs an identity, an aligning oneself with one cause or another helps people to feel like they have a place in this world. Interestingly enough, most people accept that the beliefs their leaders espouse are the most correct for the times.
However, Corruption in America pales when compared with the rest of the world. Most of the motives of our leaders are right out there in the open. Or if they are conceiled it doesn't take a rocket scientist to expose them.
Take the war in Iraq, mostly this is about winning the hearts and minds of Islam. The theory is that a democratic state would influence the region and give Islamic people some hope for the future; instead, of living under the tyranny that the mullah and the dictators impose on them. The trajedy there is that it takes American soldier lives to establish this state, which at this point is still just a theory. The mullah don't want it to exist, they want to control the country and the people within it. So do all the other radicals opposed to freedom for the peoples of Islam. Heck, at this point even the peoples of Iraq don't want america freedom, and they think that we are there as invaders. So much for winning the hearts and minds, interesting theory though.
So are Americans hypocrits. Maybe.. But here is an interesting parallel for you. 2 weeks ago I heard a man speak who was raised in Sudan. He is a twenty year old christian boy who at 7 was abducted after Islamic raiders murdered his parents allong with most the other adults of his village. He was held captive for the next 10 year forced to live and sleep with the animals that he as slave was responsible for. He was constantly under mortal threat, abused, spit on, and beaten regularly. This treatment was so severe that he wasn't allowed to speak, or question, he was to do what he was told.
The wife of his master constantly asked to have him murdered which she wanted to perform herself.
This is Sudan, this is Islam. By the way, he was one of over one hundred children taken that day. This wasn't a randon raid, raids like this one are happening today.
Finally, two others abducted were girls that he knew who had watched their parents beheaded. They wouldn't stop crying to one was pulled aside and shot through the head. She was 6.

I have been to nine other countries all over the world. Lived in a couple of them. I have found little difference in those countries, other than minor cultural differences, from the US. The Mexican government is as corrupt as can be found the world over. South American countries ruled by military dictators, Russian states broken apart because of a failed government, Japan and China ruled by strict codes, hundreds of years out of date...while European governments are little different than our own.
Its true that we stand by, but I'm not sure saying we support every decision that is made would be accurate. Between laziness, self centered interests, and dozens of other things we allow others to do what we just plain do not want to do.
As Plato once said...."It is the punishment of wise men, who refuse to take part in their government; to be ruled by unwise men."
No, Americans are no different than virtually any other country that I have ever seen.

People are so easily influenced by the media. They believe everything they hear or see on t.v. People need to start paying attention to what is really happening, read between the lines, and look at how our politicians are really running our country and the effects their decisions have instead of trusting the media and what everyone else says or thinks.

This nation we call America is an experiment never before
tried in history. For the most part, since 1776 it has worked
out with great satisfaction. Let's give it a few more thousand
years and see what happens.

Politics is bullshit. i would not care too plenty approximately it if human beings lack the means to do something significant. think of relating to the balloting device for example. Who theory it may well be a solid concept to have all and sundry vote for a president? all and sundry has unique hobbies and expectancies, yet balloting particularly filters those out. What we in all likelihood get in the tip are the mainstream media bullshit that focuses the human beings's expectancies on "replace" or "Iraq". on account that as quickly as we vote, the universal public of the consistent expectancies at the same time with "replace" would be accounted, at the same time as different expectancies won't count. the way our device is desperate up. the media has important effect on focusing the universal public interest on subjective and perhaps self-serving subjects. human beings don't have an particularly solid say in our government as popularly perceived.

you call America corrupt? It's not perfect by any means, but do some research on any of the other corrupt countries that you are thinking of; and you will see we have it pretty damn good. ignorance or not .
