Picture a balance scale in you mind, the more weight you put on one end has to be equalled on the other end. The same reasoning applies to manual transmissions, the more you let out the clutch, the more gas you must give it. There is a point on the clutch where it starts to engage, once you have learned where that point is, you will be fine!

Remember, slow down and then practice starting on an incline!

Have your father take you to a store parking lot like a k-mart after they close and the lot is empty of cars (you will have less fear and a lot more confidence to learn with less obstacles ).you can learn very quickly this way I tought my daughter this way with a stick shift .This way there is no pressure of stop and go with traffic. And you can learn at your own pace to shift gears and use the clutch .
If you can do this with your FATHER you will do just fine .

Why not get your Dad to show you how to drive a clutch for you?
Have him sit in the passenger seat with his hand over your hand which is on the shifter. When it is time to shift, have him guide your hand to change the gears. In time you will learn to know when to shift by listening to the engine speed. It is easy once you learn. Have fun!!!!

Like everyone said, I'll add it just takes time you won't be perfect your first time, but modern cars clutchs are nothing(mechincal clutchs while I like better take a bit more to get use to). Don't be afraid to stall everyone does starting out.

When you let up off of the clutch in 1st gear give it plenty of gas or it will stall and shut off.
