I saw a possibly used one( i didn't ask if it was used) at music-go-round in Cary, NC. It looked like it was new but it was only 200 bucks

The answer is: Ask your teacher what he thinks of the guitar. Will the seller let you take it in to a lesson for his /her evaluation without buying it? Or could the teacher go there and look at it for you?

I would recommend that since you're a new guitar player, that you buy a cheap guitar at first. That way if you lose interest then you're not out of an investment. Just realize also is that you get what you pay for. If you want quality, you're gonna pay for it. There would be no use right now for you to buy a thousand dollar guitar. With guitar, the more you practice, the better you'll be, and the better your ear will develop. What are your goals? Practice, practice, practice, and of course patience....you'll be very good in no time. good luck
