Last year, it was the Boston Red Sox.
This year, the New York Yankees.

The Yankees in 2005 drew more than 4 million fans, the most of the season but not a record, the 1991-1993 Toronto Blue Jays did it each year. The Red Sox have sold out well over 200 consecutive games, still not a record, the Indians of Cleveland still hold that title. Then there are the Chicago Cubs, whose attendance percentage for the 2005 season was a league best at 98%, but noticed more White Sox hats after the 2005 season than Cubs hats. Turning on their lovable Cubs to the World Champions. The Cards and Reds have the greatest fans, and some of the nicest, but no where near the greatest fan base. Looking at the numbers it is hard to tell, the Yankees symbol is the most recognized symbol in all of sports, but more people hate the Yankees than compared to people that like the Yankees, but my vote would have to go to the Boston Red Sox. they drew more than 2.8 million fans in 80 games at home averaged 35,166 per game, while the park has the lowest seating capacity in the Major league at 33,871 leaving almost 200 people per game in "standing room only." In 2005 the percentage of people attending the game was 97.2% second in MLB to the Cubs, and in 2006 they are sitting at over 100% thus far.

This is a very prejudiced answer, but it has to be the Boston Red Sox. You can go to a game in Anaheim, Minnesota, Kansas City or Seattle and there will be thousands of Red Sox fans in attendance, being loud and cheering for the Red Sox. I have been to dozens of games in Anaheim where the Red Sox fans make more noise than the Angel fans--not that that is saying much. In places like Oakland and Tampa Bay, the only sellouts of the year are usually when the Red Sox are in town. Fenway Park has been sold out for home games for every game since some time in August 2002.

Boston Red Sox fans are the most dedicated...imagine going that long without winning a world series and still holding on to get your heart broken again the next year...it's so sad. If you watch the dvd's, you can really see the devesation in the hearts of the fans every year they lost!
I only endured 1 year of the heartbreak because I became a fan of baseball in 2003.

I would have to say the New York Yankees but those fans don't have much sympathy so I wonder how many of their fans would continue if they had a horrible team.As a Royals fan, I have seem many people get frustrated and give up.Yankee fans aren't use to having a bad team so I think they would give up much easier than most.I was impressed with the Astros fan base during the 2004 playoffs.

the Boston redsox have the greatest and widest fan base. the all-star ballot cannot be used to determine fan base because not everyone votes for players solely based on the team they play for

Nationally I'd say the Chicago Cubs, but locally I would say the Red Sox.
