This is a very common scam. About a month or so after you withdraw the money, your bank will notify you that the check turned out to be counterfit. Since you are the responsible party, the funds will go against your account as overdraft which you will be required to reimburse.

Yes, maam, it is a big SCAM!!! For the last 3 1/2 years I worked as a dispatcher for my local sheriff's dept and we got people calling in all the time about these!! There are sick and nasty people that will do anything to get money from you! The problem is, they mostly target elderly people , who would not know any better , and I do not know how many cases that we had come in, where everyone 's bank account had been wiped out because of **** like this!! Please be carfeul and warn everyone that you know!

This is a scam. If you read the fine print on the check, chances are there is a legally binding contractual agreement you are entering into upon cashing it. Credit card companies are notorious for this. It seems like free money and then they send you a bill 30-60 days later asking for money, plus now they have your bank account number!

Place this check in the trash immediately!!

Scam without a doubt. After all, if you did not buy or request a lottery ticket, how could you possible win? People don't give away money for no reason. No matter how true you want it to be. The fact you had to ask should have been your first clue.

Oh my God, I hope that you have not deposited the check. This is the scam of regular debate among people that I know. Even some strangers have told me of this bullshit promotion. I am glad that you asked about this. Don't do it. Read Psalm 35 to (Plead My Cause) and show God the respect that He is due. He knows what you need before you even ask Him. This psalm will help you greatly. Remember this, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31. Peace and God Bless.

SCAM - scam - SCAM it is written all over it. I sure hope you didn't comply with it. This is only a way to get your banking and account # which they will use in the future to scam you another way..........My county tells us that if we receive these kind of notices to notify the police and /or your bank. Bring the paper with you and they will follow up on it themselves and notify the public that this particular kind of scam is going on around the town. We have them in the paper all the time. So BEWARE

What are you suppossed to send back to them? If your suppossed to send them money or any type of information, it's definatly a scam.

They probably wrote you a bad check, then when you take out that money (as the bank will likely allow you to take it out then it goes against your account as overdraft) they'll just take that money from you. If you have a phone number, call them and ask a million questions. Ask for an address. If it looks fishy, I'd call the cops. If not, congratulations! Can I borrow $20,000?

Have you ever heard of the phrase...if it seems to good to be true it may be is.....I would check with your bank and find out if the check is even valid. Then have them check the availability of funds. Once that is in order, you should be able to cash the check, Good Luck!
