Yes. a MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure sensor), is a variable resistor used to monitor the difference in pressure between the intake manifold and outside atmosphere. This information is used by the engine computer to monitor engine load (vacuum drops when the engine is under load or at wide open throttle). When the engine is under load, the computer may alter spark timing and the fuel mixture to improve performance and emissions.
As for the location, it is usually on the side panel in engine compartment.

If it has a MAF sensor, look at the air cleaner box and follow the tube from it to the motor, there will be a huge silver thing with a wire coming out of it attached to the air box.

If it's a MAP sensor, it's located near the oil filler hole and has 3 wires and a vaccum hose connected to it.. pretty much out in the open.

I agree with the other fellow and want to say Ford went to MAF in 1992 or 1993 as Mass Air Flow was considered a better measure of air flow and pressure than the MAP sensor which just basically measured vacumm.

ON newer Fords (2004 and newer) mainly with drive by wire actually use both now.

NO on the 93 ford aerostar with the 3.0 it dose not have a map sensor. It has a mass air flow sensor which is on the top part of your are filter that big hose goes to it.
