I had my baby in March and I am exclusively breastfeeding her (so we're not even at 3 months yet). I am bleeding but VERY little. I am not so good at taking the mini pill but we don't have much intercourse, so...could I be pregnant? Is this my period? If it is implantation bleeding, when would be the best time to test for pregnancy? how else might I know I am pregnant?

Well, I don't know when my period is expected...a year from now would have been nice...but I read somewhere that you can't assume bleeding after the 72nd day after birth is related to that birth. That said, does anyone know how long after implantation bleeding a pregnancy should show up on a urine test?

There's a kit that can tell you if you'll pregnant within a week of conception. In your newly found state of just becoming a Mom, you could become a Mom again with him just breathing in your direction too hard. You can conceive extremely quick with not having much intercourse as you put it. Don't believe that old folk saying about not being able to get pregnant while breastfeeding, it's Not true, been there, done that. So, ask your Dr. during your next check up for the "test" again, if you can wait that long, or go get it yourself and remove the mystery. Take care.

According to the most accurate over the counter pregnancy test companies, you can test for pregnancy as early as three days before your missed period. That said, yes, you CAN get pregnant while breastfeeding, although it is less likely. It may be that your body is reacting to the breastfeeding hormones as opposed to a new pregnancy. But if you take three tests, at least five days apart, and all are negative, chances are, you are not pregnant. If any of those come up positive, you probably are. If you get negative answers, but still feel pregnant, see your doctor, a blood test is more accurate than any urine test. Good luck!
I would like to add that hCG in women who have just delivered steadily declines after the birth and may take as long as twelve weeks to return to zero. If you haven't gone this long yet, you may get a false positive on a home pregnancy test. And if you have a hard time taking the pill, perhaps a condom paired with spermicide would be a better option for you. At least until you are ready to get pregnant again or to discontinue breastfeeding and get another form of birth control. It isn't a good idea to get pregnant again for at least a year after a pregnancy, to allow your body to get back to normal and replenish it's self. However, if you are pregnant again, get good prenatal care and you should be able to deliver a healthy baby again this time.

It is normal to experience some spotting or periodic bleeding after you have a baby, because your body is trying to regulate itself and your hormones. If you take a home pregnancy test now, there might be a chance that it will give you a false positive result. I doubt that you are pregnant, especially because you're breastfeeding exclusively and taking the mini-pill. Besides your period hasn't come back yet, so the odds of conceiving are not that high.
Best of luck to you!

best to take a test just to be sure as you are having unprotected sex...if your period is due then take the test now!...i know people who have gotten pregnant 4 weeks after giving birth...and i myself got pregnant with my second child when my first was just 6 months old...and i was breastfeeding her at the time!
