I would like to move out of my house before I'm 18 even though my birthday is in October. My parents try to control me and will try to stop me from moving out when I'm 18. I have the chance to live with someone else and continue with a better eduacation. Would the law be ok if I moved out?

At 17 they can't stop you. Legal age of consent in most states is 16. When I was 17 I kept leaving. My mom knew she couldnt do anything about it, just hope I would come back home or not end up dead in a ditch somewhere. If you've graduated High School and you are college bound, there's no point in trying to stop you. But at 17 in most states you are considered an adult. If you are worried about not being 18, then stick out the 4 months and move out on your birthday. If you feel that you can wait, talk to them so they can atleast know your intentions. If you cant talk to them, leave a note, take what you can and just go. If it means a better life, do what you have to.

Depends what state you live in... in many states, the COURTS (and therefore the law enforcement) stop treating you like a minor at age 17 (i.e. no longer a matter of family/probate court). If you move out, theres no legal recourse for your parents, and as long as you tell them in some way what youre going to do, it would be illegal for them to file a missing persons report.

technically you can be emancipated but that might take 4 months...if you move out and your parents call the cops it is doubtful they will forcibly return you home, they might consider you a runaway but i doubt they will do anything
