I LOVE Texas; it's my 1st choice b/c of jobs, great climate, beautiful and diverse scenery, and the wonderful natives. I also really like Mississippi, and Alabama. I think maybe Oklahoma, Utah, or Washington would also be nice. Since this is polls & surveys, should I stay in Kentucky or move? Why? If not to one of the places I mentioned, then where to?

I do not want to move to California, Florida, Michigan, or anywhere in the northeast north of New York City.

I live in KY, in the Louisville-Lexington-Frankfort area upstate. The people here are very rude, pretentious, and snobby, and it's hard to find a good job unless you know somebody who is prominent or within your family. Sure, the scenery is beautiful and there is a lot of history, but the economic growth rate in this area is very slow, and the cost of living is higher than San Antonio, Houston, Nashville, Charlotte, or other high growth areas (in other words, KY is overpriced in terms of housing, utilities, taxes, etc.)

funny_cat25, you got me. I wouldn't mind moving to Tennessee. I like west and middle TN, in particular. Thanks!

YES yes yes, I live in Lexington and absolutely hate it. HATE HATE HATE UK basketball! WW3 could start, but if a UKbasket ball player gets a traffic ticket guess which story what is front page headline news. I have lived all over the US as a federal employee, from New Jersey to CA, from FL to Michigan and never hated a place like I do this one, The weather is crap, the food sucks unless your into fast food chains, the people are for the most part narrow minded and Univ of KY obsessed.

Well I live in Florida... and the weather is wonderful.. but everything else sucks.... I am actually moving to Missouri by the end of this month. As for yourself...out of the choices you listed.. Texas would be the best... I think.. housing is cheap.. and the job market is okay.. if you are into high tech... have many friends that live there.. Austin in particular... the other ones.. I wouldn't go to... Mississippi and Alabama.. .. personally...(hurricanes.. tend to hit that area on the gulf frequently...)

Yes, move. You shouldn't stay in KY because you hate it. It never hurts to know someone where ever you decide to go. That is how the world works. Sorry to be the one to break this to you, but this life you live is not fair. No one ever said it was going to be fair. Suck it up, cry baby and enjoy your life. Have a great day!
BTW, I don't know where you are getting your stats, but the cost of living is not higher in Lawrenceburg than in those areas. Lexington, Ky may be higher than some, but you need to recheck your info.

texas,i made that mistake a few years ago. i got a good job, rented a nice place, had lots of money. but i had no friends, no matter how many people i got to know, nobody ever stuck around.they were always leaving. also i suffered a nervous break down and was robbed out side a grocery store. i said that was enough. i moved back to tennessee and have been happy ever since. maybe the money isnt so great, but my piece of mind and happiness with lots of friends and family here mean a lot to me now. good luck

I vote for Washington or NW Oregon. Both states are great (though I've only visited Washington and never actually lived there). They're also very beautiful (except maybe Eastern Oregon, E Oregon is all desert). However, if you don't like too much rain, you might want to go someplace else.

We just came back to KY from WA(I was born there) because of what you just said. We live in Shelbyville,KY and like it a lot. The people too. The hard to get a job part or need to know someone thing is here to.
A lot cheaper down here however.

I have lived in Utah for most of my life and I love it the weather is just right, the summer it gets to the right temp to sit out in a pool all day. and in the winter you can go out skiing, sowboarding or any othe sport that you fancy. there is a large veiaty of people, most being of the lds religion, but you don't need to wory much about that they will only come aruond to see if you need help moveing in and out. and it isn't that hard to find a church at all there is one on every corner and one for almost every religion.

But if you are planing one comeing to Utah you need to buy fast intrest rates are going up and fast!!

You're very smart to not want to move to Michigan. Colorado is very pretty but the people suck. If you like Texas the best - I say go for it. I hope you are happy there.
