Michael Jordan.....Michael Jordan.....Michael Jordan

Can somebody PLEASE give me one legitimate reason why Michael Jordan is the greatest player ever? It just seems that every time that somebody asks this question, alot of people blurt out "Michael Jordan" and then give no reason why.

The overall greatest NBA player ever IMO would have to be Larry Bird. He took a Celtics team that had won only 29 games the year prior to his arrival, and turned them around, winning 61 games in his rookie season. Jordan's Bulls didn't break .500 until his 4th year in the league & didn't reach 60 wins until his 7th year. I would hardly call that domination. By Bird's 7th year he had already won 3 championships!!

Larry Bird was the consummate player. He could score from anywhere at anytime, and was one of the greatest clutch shooters of all time. He was an effective rebounder, great ballhandler, and one of the greatest passing forwards ever. Most importantly, he knew how to involve his teammates and get them to play to their potential, unlike the ball-hogging Jordan.

Talk about changing the league, if it weren't for Bird & Magic, Michael Jordan's games would be shown on tape delay at midnight, if at all.

You could probably make a good arguement for Magic Johnson or Wilt Chamberlain (probably the most dominate player ever). Jordan was the greatest player of the 90's, but there are more than a few that came before him that are better. LOL

You asked for the greatest, (as opposed to the best) and Michael Jordan is definitely it... all around player... changed the game completely from the way it's played... to the apparel that the players wear... even public relations. He elevated NBA to where it is now almost singlehandedly.
