They don't care and have parents that do not care also. So many times parents who do not have an education do not know the importance of schooling or furthering an education.

Home life plays a part for sure but I think a lack of motivation plays in as well. Often times today classes are boring and seem totally useless to kids. If that was the case for you would you give your best? Teaching should be captivating and motivating to children. That is a lot to ask of some of the lowest paid people in America (ha ha). As I said, if the home life is a wreck that can be a hindrance as well. If your parents don't care or aren't around there is little motivation from there either. Kids can achieve on thier own but they need motivation and that is what parents and teachers are for. Hope this is usefull

Some children are in the stage where they just want to play, not learn how to multiply 11x12. Because of this, they can't focus on what's at hand. Instead of making a goal like, "I want to get an A on this test, so I'll study tonight," they make goals like, "I want to play outside today, so I'll tell mom I finished my homework."
It's not a bad thing until children get into around middle school and high school, where they begin to get loaded with homework. If they are still not concerned about their grades, it's time to have a talk with them. Some children just may not think it important to learn to read and write and do math. That is why in schools, textbooks are integrated so that children can see the practical way of things. So that children can see why they are learnnig how to find the area of a triangle - how will it be useful, they ask.
That's what we tell them.

They are either not fostered well by their parents, and have no exposure to the incentives and rewards that can come from it.
Or
They have so much money that they don't care to study for high grades because they know that their life is taken care of well already. Thus no motivation to make the effort when they can be elsewhere already having fun and then some.

Some students don't see the point in school. A lot of times I teach kids who just don't care about math, social studies, english and science. As a teacher I find it is my responsibility to try to work with each student on an individual basis and make my subject tie into what they are interested in.

Because they are bored! Learning should be a fun activity - make them thing how to use the lesson in real life. They will learn to adapt once they feel that their answers no matter how crazy they are, are understood and accepted. It is important for all students to know that learning is just not about getting through grade school, or getting through high school and get a diploma, but that they investing in their life and ultimately their career. Their self-esteem needs to be reinforced that their answer and school work counts no matter what level.

some feel as if they really don't care about school and grades. Or they may be going through something at home. Or they may feel as if they aren't being challenged to their full potential. There are so many reasons but in order for someone to get ahead in life you have to go to school and make good grades. You can't get the ideal job, cars, fame and/or fortune you want unless you go and get your education. Some may say that grades doesn't matter but for whomever believe that then you need to really rethink what you want to do with your life.

Some students do not have the same goals and ethics as students who strive to do there best. Some students think of school as a social event, instead of a learning about lifes necessities for growth and knowledge for a better future.

I think students don't make an effort to get good grades because of two reasons. One reason could be that they don't care about their education and how it affects everything they do. 2. Another reason is their parents aren't involved in their academics.

Ahha, a million dollar question! This has been the case for years. Situations at home and in society are usually a good aim for a cause. As many have said before me in many situations, school just isn't a high priority compared to helping on the farm, or getting a job to help pay for that car or help mom and dad get bills in the mail.

I believe some students don't make the effort for good grades because they have no one to support them and encourage them. Sometimes tough love is necessary to make the kid realize they have the potential to be anything they want to be.
