evry once in a while my turtle will make a sound that sounds like a hiss. what is that?

Usually when they are disturbed, they will force air through their nostrils to make a hissing sound.

If the turtle has a runny nose or bubbly nose, then that is a sign of illness. Otherwise, the hissing is quite normal and many species of turtles will do it to show they are annoyed by your presence.

He could be getting arid of access gas.

some breeds do that as an intimidation defense... but then again, some,like people, are just jerks.

take him/her to the vet & find out!! & just in case!! have a couple
of hundreds of dollars in case!
