AMEN to that one here is something for all of you to think about do you know that the bottom 5 or 6 ranks of the military are considered below the poverty level, think about that the next time those ballplayers are getting millions to play a game, soldiers and police officers are getting pennies to defend your freedom.

If it was a PURE Capitalist Society, only the ones who use the services would pay for them, but in the America, as it was founded, the Constitution is clear how these services will be paid, taxes. Where the objections come is when Capitalism becomes the villain and freeloaders the victims. Remember the early American Settlement, when some settlers said they did not want to work for the settlement, they were told they did not have to but they would not share in the benefits either--that included food, water, shelter or protection. They had a choice, work or not, they chose work since they wanted the benefits the work brought. Today we have way to many in America who want the benefits without the work required. Hence the "Socialist/Marxist" references. Those who choose not to work, still get the benefits--that is not a Capitalist Society.

the military and law enforcement get theri pay from tax money and ball players get their money from the person paying for tickets to watch them play. Ball players should be paid less, most of them are not worth the millions

They are entertainers who sell products.
They are paid according to their value to advertisers, or "entertainment value."
It's not complicated, they are a service being sold like any other service. And, if you take the totals rather than the individual salaries, the military gets far more than ballplayers, there are just more of them to split the pot and expenses are greater.

I totally agree with you...kind of makes you want to break the pitching arm of some overpaid pitcher, or take out the knee caps of a basketball player that just couldn't settle for any less than a mint...

It's because our society has always set our priorities on the wrong things. It's the same reason why teachers most often get paid less than many retail salespeople. It is sadly reflected in our crime rates, the poor quality of our schools, etc. etc. etc. etc. but I guess that's the way it's always been and always will be.....

Ball players are basically the same as movie stars. They are entertainers. Even though they are often times spoiled whiners. Someone was willing to sign them for big bucks and we are willing to pay for the ticket.
