Speaking from a historical perspective, Jeter has four World Championships, more consistent batting, fielding, is an all-around better person (as far as I know), a fan favorite, a career-long Yankee, and a star in clutch situations. Although A-Rod may have a better year or two than Jeter, Derek is the better overall player.

Alex Rodriguez will always be the better baseball player habds down. He can beat Jeter in every category there is. One thing though, untill Arod performs in October, he'll always live in Jeters' shadow.

Arod is the better player by far although Jeter is more of a clutch hitter. This year is probably the least productive year for Arod so far but compare his numbers to Jeters and you will see. Also Arod is now a transition player so he is more capable of being a better and more valuable fielder.

Jeter. He doesn't make as many errors as Arod. He plays better defensively and he takes more chances offensively. He steals more bases and positions himself for a runs. Don't get me wrong, I love Arod, but he still needs to prove himself before we can make any comparisions to Jeter.

Jeter!A.Rod is a great player too but he is over rated because of his pay check.Jeter loves the game itself and it shows in how he just relaxes and plays, without stressing out.
