No, neither directly nor indirectly. One must recognize a number of things.

1. The federal government alone, via the taxpayers, is funding the war in Iraq.

2. The federal government does not control the quantity or price or oil or gasoline. Even if our government was to release every barrel in every reserve in the country for public consumption, that oil wouldn't last even two months. Any attempts of the government to control or manipulate gas prices would be to lower them, and historically, the U.S. government has proven unable to affect any but the smallest of changes in gas prices.

3. The war has not reduced our oil supply. While insurgents temporarily halted oil production in Iraq at the war's onset, most delays lasted weeks, not months, and have long since been remedied. Both OPEC and independent oil producers around the globe increased production throughout the war, if not because they wanted to help the U.S. out, then to take advantage of record oil prices, due exclusively to demand.

No the Iraq war is funding Haliburton. Oil companies are just taking advantage of the situation. If we could find a way to make money in Africa, we'd go to Sudan in a heartbeat and attempt to bring peace there.

Actually, while this would be a interesting theory, in college I have learned that the Iraq war is mostly funded by Chinese investors in the American economic market. If the Chinese suddenly decided to pull out of the American economy, we would no longer be able of afford the war.

Gas taxes fund just about everything, but since the rates haven't changed from the start of the war, they can't be directly related.

What? I thought that at the gas pump we pay $3/gallon for all the free oil we've taken in our "war for oil" (that is sarchasm). We pay for it in taxes and have you noticed the deficit?
