This isn't meant to be a racist question and I'm very sorry if I'm offending anyone. The most contact that I've had with Hispanic women has been generally negative, not all Hispanic women are like this. One of the worst encounters I've had with a Hispanic woman has been this: A woman and I were standing in line to pay for some groceries, the Hispanic girl looks at me and the other woman and walks out of the line, she sort of shoved the other woman. She leaves her groceries on the counter and doesn't return until like five minutes later, when she did return she shoved me out of the way. She then slowly finishes putting her groceries on the counter and I know she did this on purpose. After she finishes she smiles at me and the other woman and says "blanco basura". If you know "blanco basura" means can you tell me that also?

Blanco Basura means White Trash. I'm sorry you experienced that. Just know that every race experiences something racist from another and so on. You are not the only one here nor the only one that has experienced the very common act of racism. Don't hold a grudge and brush it off. Rather than judging the woman on her race why don't you judge her for the ONE individual that she is. I believe everyone should be treated kindly until that ONE person disrespects you. You have the option to let it bother you or continue on. Personally I think you should drop it, it's a waste of your time trying to understand racism. I'm hispanic and get crap from people all the time. What makes a difference is is that I don't let it get to me because that's what the want. They just want a rise out of you. Don't give anyone that satisfaction.

Blanco basura roughly translates to "White Trash".
I can't speak for the hispanic community because I'm considered "white", but I've lived in a community where hispanics were the majority. I've never really had any bad experiences with them that I'm aware of. I simply smile and say hello and for the most part their responses have been positive.
Sometimes the language barrier does create problems but on a whole if you show respect towards another person they'll do the same for you.

Well, "basura blanca" means "white trash", its possible you may have transposed the words, anyhow, I think you just might have had a bad experience, in general I have noticed Latino cultures to be not only friendly but a lot more outgoing and happy, although short tempered. I myself am half and half (Latino and north American) and I have the fortune of getting to meet people from all over the world at work, and I find this to be true of the Latinos...very happy, very willing to party, very sweet, but not a good enemy to have.

"White trash" is correct - sorry to hear that happened. I actually live in Texas and for the most part the women down here that are actually From Mexico are very quiet and will hardly look you in the eye. Maybe she was really feeling intimadated by the 2 of you - or even 'I dare you attitude' because she had to leave the line and get more stuff. Doesn't make what she did right. It's hard not to stereotype but we all do it.

I don't think you asked this as a racist question. The most of them that you have had contact with may have not spoken much or any English and that could have contributed to the situation. As for the rude one you ran into, rude women come in all colors, shapes, and forms. I would say she was just one of those rude people. Someone else will have to help with what she said. Good luck in the future and please don't think all hispanic women are like that, I have met several really nice ones.

Who cares what she was saying?
You should have dumped her crap in a basket and moved on down the line. You also should not have stood there like a wimp and allowed her to shove you. I don't advocate fighting everyone you have a confrontation with, but she would not have walked out of that store if she would have tried that with me.
Stand up for yourself. If you don't, no one else will.

she called you a white witch. i know a lot of Hispanic women and they are tough as nails. i got jumped by two pureto rican women when i was 18. i didn't do a thing to them but they though i did. it really is hard not to hate someone 's nationality when they have violently attacked you. I find myself judging pureto rican women all the time but i just have to remind myself all pureto rican women aren't like that. just forget what the lady did. she just picked on you to make herself feel good, she was just a bully. pick your battles wisely and picking one at the market wasn't one.
