you can tell by counting your knuckles, not including the thumb... and the space in between each knuckle is a month that has 30 days -- except for february that is. there is no space in between the last knuckle on one hand when you transfer over to your other hand -- transition from july to august -- hence 31 days in both months.

tried to explain this the best i can.. look at a calendar and try it out you'll understand it then im sure.
