A pound of feathers is equal to a pound of gold. The only the difference is the mass. You need a lot more feathers than gold to make one pound.

A pound is a pound, no matter what it is!

As gold is typically weighed in "troy pounds" instead of regular pounds, they do actually have different weights. A "troy pound" is equivalent to 12 ounces, while a regular pound is 16 ounces.

Thus, a pound of feathers is heavier.

Actually this could be a trick question, he didn't specify what type of pound, a pound could be the "pound troy" (used for weighing precious metals) = 0.37 kg while the regular pound(imperial) = 0.45kg, thus a pound of feathers could weigh more than a pound of gold.

A pound is a pound is a pound. The item weighed is of no consequence..... hehehe

However, which is worth more, a 50 pound bag of 20 dollar bills or a 20 pound bag of 50 dollar bills....assuming all bills weigh the same

that is quite simple. they are of equal weight because they both weigh a pound. However, it will take more feathers to reach the amount of one pound whereas it will take substantially less mass for the gold to reach a pound.
