I don't agree with the fact that parents should get paid like teachers if they want to home school their children. First I don't think teachers get paid enough for what they do. Second, teachers have to go through years and years of training to become a teacher. A parent who chooses to home school their child should not be paid salary like teachers.

No, many times children do not get the same benefits from being home school, there is alot more to public school then some people realize. You can not teach social skills that is something children learn from interacting with other children. If you choose to homeschool your child then you should not be getting paid for it. Thats liek saying if you decide to stay home and babysit your child should you get paid for it. Its an option..

I don't think that homeschooling teachers should get the same salary as a certified teacher. What would be nice though, is if we got some type of discount on all the supplies we have to purchase. There is no help what-so-ever for funding.

As for parents choosing to homeschool their children because they don't care for the school systems. It is already an option. It is called Rule 12.

Home school teachers should not be paid as public education is provided by tax payer money. So you do not have to home school your child, it is a choice. I think there are good resources and networks through churches and other organizations if you want to home school your child. If you just do not like your school, you should go to the administration and voice your concerns. They may be able to help you before you decide to home school.

LMAO!!!

Public school is a service provided by the government to help parents meet the legal standards of education for their children. It is parents who, in the end, are finally responsible for their child's education.

Your question is like asking whether a parent should get paid for giving first aid to their own child...after all, isn't that nursing? Or whether a parent should get paid for cooking... after all, don't we pay cooks in restaurants?

If you want to home school, that is your choice, but no one should pay you to do it, because it is not economically feasible or practical. If everyone could get paid to stay home and teach their children everyone would do it, and the government wouldn't be able to afford it. It is more effective to hire TRAINED PROFESSIONALS to teach SEVERAL children. The government provides an education to your children. If you are not satisfied you do have the right to remove them and provide an education on your own, but you must finance it yourself.
And as for you "question"
"Do you think?"
Yes, I do, but obviously you don't.

No, I do not subscribe to the theory. It sounds like more drain on taxpayer's wallets. And I am not whistling dixie. I did Home School my children for two years. I received no "pay" but in the end I did! My kids liked for Mom to teach and they socialized just fine. All five are functioning in ways I couldn't imagine when I had them. So, it's not hard to step up and look at smiling little faces and say, that is good enough for me.

I think parents that want to homeschool should not have to pay educational taxes that pay teachers' salaries. If the parent wants to be compensated they should have to go to school to earn a teaching degree.

Signing a clear concise petetion outlining the idea becoming a bill and lobbying extensively to get it noticed after sending the petition to your congressperson would start things rolling.

Teachers in the school system make very little money, sure. It probably wouldn't even be enough. But home-schooling should get some $$ maybe for free supplies for all families enrolled. You should write to your congressman.
