My husband and I are going to vegas. This is my first time, his 2nd time (he went there for the nascar, not for the gambling and clubing) We aren't really big club goers and want to party all night long We like to sit down and have a few drinks chill, and gamble a little bit. The clubs would be nice, but not real noisy ones. We like chill clubs. Any ideas on what to do? we are also going to go see the grand canyon. Any ideas would be helpful thank you!

The advice on http://www.fodors.com/miniguides/mgresults.cfm?destination=las_vegas@87&cur_section=fea&feature=30002
was pretty good for us. It was _so_ hot there when we went, that it was great to go to Mt. Charleston to cool off http://www.fodors.com/miniguides/mgresults.cfm?destination=las_vegas@87&cur_section=fea&feature=30014

Do not bother riding the New York, New York roller coaster.

If you want to have some silly fun without really being in danger, try indoor skydiving. http://www.flyawayindoorskydiving.com/ I still watch the video we got because it was so funny.

Vegas has alot of shopping! At the state line there's outlets, and right outside the city limits is an outlet and then a premium outlet. If you want to window shop for the high end stuff, the major casinos like Bellagio, Wynn, Caesars, etc. have those high end shoes, clothing and jewelry stores.

You can also go casino hopping by car (valets are free, just tip) or walk, or take the bus down the strip for a quarter (i believe) or the monorail. The monorail is not free but you can get an all day wrist band for $15.

If you do go casino hopping, do what my friend does... she collects those free "casino cards". They're those swipe cards used for points.

If you have the food channel, try tivo-ing or taping the Rachel Ray $40 a day Vegas. She has some great tips and some places that most tourists don't visit.

I'll be in Vegas for a wedding 4th of July. I'm planning on playing my pennies slots (yes they have 1 cent slots) and then going to the Venetian hotel for a nice dinner. Many hotels have 4 start restaurants and even priceless paintings!

Dress comforably, and remember that Vegas in the summer is like an oven. Dry and very warm.

Oh, splurge and treat yourself to a show or a spa treatment. There's so many shows... Cirque Du Soleil has at least 3 or 4 shows going on, Barry Manilow at the Hilton (Its a great show.. worth the money!), Vagina Monolog, Celine Dion, Blue Man, etc.

The Coca Cola store on the strip offers discount tickets to the shows.. of course not the high end shows, but its still a discount!

Next door to the Coca Cola store is an information booth bout a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon. I went along time ago, and I got airsick. It may not be for everyone.

Have fun... and good rule of thumb... expect NOT to come home with any money. That way when you do, you're not depressed over losing the money you brought with you.

Hey. We go to Vegas every year. We don't like the club scene either. We always stay at NY NY. There is a great piano bar there as well as a Martini bar called the Big Apple. Mandalay Bay has a ultra exclusive club at the top but be prepared to drop $400 for drinks, also you need to be on a VIP list to get in. If you want to see any shows wait until the day of and get your tickets by the M&M factory. The place there sells same day tickets to ALL shows for 1/2 price. Also if you gamble make sure you get a players card and show it anytime you are at the tables. It is usually best to gamble where you stay so that way you earn comps. We haven't paid for hotel rooms for the past 4 years!

A buddy of mine took a helicopter tour from Vegas that included landing at the bottom of the Grand Canyon for a picnic.

There's also a few roller coasters if you like that kind of thing.

Some great shows. I don't know if Cirque De Soleil's Zumanity is still going, but it's pretty sexy (well, pretty much pornographic) and ought to get you in the mood.

If you get away from the strip Hotels, it is quiet and not as crowded. Avoid Downtown area, real dirty and slummy. Try the Green Valley Ranch Hotel Casino, real nice, quiet and not to spendy. it is away from the strip in green Valley area

Take along a great pair of walking shoes and walk the strip and experience all the wonderful sights and attractions, many of which are free. (Treasure Island, NY, NY, etc.) You'll have a great time without having to party the entire time you are there.

Vegas is a strange place. Definitely NOT out of choice. It's like Florida or California. VERY difficult to get out of. All directions will be conflicting or intentional lies.
