The same reason why Popcorn costs $100.00 at the movie theater.

Becuase they can get away with it.

Captive audience with nowhere else to go.

Economics 101- The laws of supply and demand. They create the demand and they supply the product. They have a monopoly and can charge whatever price they like. Obviously, there is a fine line between what the consumer will pay and what they won't. $2.50 is on the outer edge, but I wouldn't be surprised to see people paying $5.00 for a soda.

It's not just Disney. How about popcorn & soda at movie theaters, ball parks, other amusement parks, & others? It's because while you're in these places they have a monopoly on food and drinks. No competition means they can charge anything they want.

Captive Audience.

They know you aren't going to lug around a cooler all day either! I was shocked to see corndogs were 7.00!!!!! I could buy a case and a half at Costco for that price! We took lunch the entire time we were there. We estimated that for 2 kids and 2 adults we saved over 400 dollars in the 5 days we were there by NOT eating park food. We spent the money on overpriced souvenirs instead!

If you are talking about the prices in the parks, it's because amusement park prices are always higher than normal. It's the only way to get something to drink, and Disney knows you are going to pay because you are thirsty. Great moneymaker.
