My friends father is a divorce lawyer and he had a client who proved through DNA that 1 child was his and one was someone else's even though they were "twins". The woman prodcued 2 eggs. Guess it doesn't happen often....but it did this time.

Yes, fraternal twins are carried at the same time but come from two different eggs.

yes, but only if the woman happens to ovulate from both ovaries AND sleeps with more than one man.
this is pretty rare, but not impossible. in these cases, a woman can have boy-girl twins (fraternal, which can also be a set of boys/girls), instead of a set of boys or girls (which are usually identical).

And no, sperm don't split.
"Fraternal twins (commonly known as "non-identical twins") usually occur when two fertilized eggs are implanted in the uterine wall at the same time"
"Identical twins occur when a single egg is fertilized to form one zygote (monozygotic) which then divides into two separate embryos."
