It has to do with the anchor of their defense...Ben Wallace. He's a free agent. If they don't keep him, their interior defense becomes a little weaker. Other things that could lead to a Eastern Conf. no show:
1) Players seem to be disenchanted with Saunders
2) Team veteran and cool head Linsdey Hunter probably retiring
3) McDyess might be traded
4) Teams that are together that long, nowadays, have a habit of breaking up from internal strain.
I still think that they will contend. I don't see any teams rising out of the east to challenge them. Other than Wade and a few others, Miami is old...Cleveland needs one or two more players...and New Jersey needs a big man.

Its over because they have glaring weaknesses such as no low post offense and not one player who can take over a game when it counts. Ben Wallace is a liability on offense with his poor shooting from the field and free throw line especially in the playoffs. Both the Wallace's are over 30 Mcdyss knees are old from the numerous surgeries. And no other player off their bench other than Mcdyss. They will win a lot of regular season games but wont be a factor in the playoffs one round and done.

I specific wish they are greater useful. in spite of the indisputable fact that it is going to take it slow earlier they are going to be a contender returned. It think of they might desire to demote - no longer hearth - Michael Curry. because of the fact he became a solid assistant. Rasheed would be long previous after the season as will Allen Iverson. I doubt Amir Johnson will a Piston next year the two. The Pistons might have money to spend this offseason, approximately 22 million. If Rip Hamilton opts out of his contract this summer season it would desire to be as intense as 33 million. so as that they might desire to be waiting to get some solid gamers for that money. As for the lineup - that's no longer trouble-free to assert yet. I actually have a feeling they're going to attempt to get Ty Lawson from NC in the draft. plenty relies upon on who they are waiting to get in unfastened organization. offering Rip Hamilton would not decide out of his contract this summer season the only adult adult males which would be back are: C- Kwame Brown PF - Antonio McDyess SF - Tayshaun Prince SG - Richard Hamilton PG - Rodney Stuckey PF Jason Maxiell SF - Walter Herrmann SG - Arron Afflalo PG - Will Bynum X - Roster spot X - Roster spot X - Roster spot

The Pistons are a great team---but they have no bench to work with--If Flip keeps the same team and add a better 2nd team--they will do a lot better---the first men have no one to back them when they get tired or in file trouble---Detoit has the best defensive players in the NBA--it is time to get more shooters!

That team looked beateable throughout the playoffs. With the other teams from the east getting tougher, Detroit is in trouble.
Look at these teams:
Nets, Cavaliers, Heat, Pacers,

They focus way too much on offense. Not enough on defense, which is their bread and butter. Flip Saunders is not the kind of coach they need. They need someone to bring back the bad boy days of 2 years ago.
