the world we live in is one of uncertainity. The US as i figure all country does and some scale, tries to cover its own butt.. That is by being a "watch dog" they can try and stop any actions that they believe can cause potential harm to them in the future. The only way i see to prevent this is through a NEW United Nation. where every country has equal power and rights. thus all nations can then decide what needs to be done where and when. having one or two major countries running the shot will not always work since that country will be more intrested in there own well being and not always the well being of other nations. However, about your statement about the use being the "watch dog" of the planet. i would have to say that hey We are have the power to make sure that every nation lives up to a certain standard for its people and when the US intervine into certain nations to help the people out who are you to say that they shouldnt help these people out. Now if you had said that the US could have handled certain situations better. then i would agree with you a Little bit on that. However, NO one can predict the future. often times good intentions get derailed by unforseen circumstances.

basiclly there is always two sides to a story and everyone want to tell their side of the story but only a few are willing to consider the other sides story.

Correction - the US is its own "Watch Dog" for the entire planet - ie it looks out for its best self-interest - be it gaining fossil fuels or geostrategic positioning - it never wastes its dollars :) Sure the majority of its taxpaying population never realizes a single cent in benefits from these foreign excursions and neither do the indigenous populations in the target countries but then again the majority of the US population doesn't care as long as there are happy hours, margaritas and high speed internet connections readily available for indulgence - and as far as the foreign populations - they don't count.

We don't have too! What we need to do is quit electing people like George W. Bush and Lyndon Baines Johnson to name a couple! Meddling in the affairs of foreign countries and neglecting our own country is just plain stupid!

Because the Bush Administration believes that they should be. I doubt the next President will have such a direct foreign involvement as Bush.
