The best way is to find a person or company that you would like to work with and pursue an internship or unpaid position just to get your foot in the door. Make sure you have a strong reason for selecting the place you try to get into.

Get experience.

One easy way to do that is to join your local communnitty access television station (In the US.)

Cable companies are required by local towns to provide equipment and training to residents to produce their own television shows. It is inexpensive and easy to do. Practice by volunteering to cover local events like parades, school sports, work as crew for other access producers. Really go out on a limb and volunteer. Hang out at the studio and get involved.

Once you do that, start applying for jobs with the station.
Hopefully your time will pay off.

Also start creating tv shows for the web. With a three hundred dollar camcorder and a cheap video editing software program, you can create shows that people can download and watch on their computers. Once you build up a following of loyal viewers, start trying to sell commercials to put in the show.

Hope that helps,
Tony
