I'm pregnant. Due February 2nd of 2007. I can't even take a shower without having to take a nap after! I have housework, school and work...how can I manage? The docs say just to rest. I sleep through the night and a couple hours a day. However, I have absoulutly no energy...

I was exactly the same way when I was pregnant. It seems like I slept through my whole first trimester. Once I got into the second trimester I got a lot of energy back and was actually able to get through the day without a nap. Until then going on a walk or doing some low impact excercise can really help. It's hard to get the motivation to do it, but it really helped with my energy.

Oh yeah this is normal. I would say not to take the phenagan like someone else suggested, you want to be able to manage and that stuff is a sedative. It makes you sleep for days and you feel crappy afterward. Try and get your partner to lighten the load for the housework and as far as school and work just accept that you are now growing another human in there and cut back on either one or both if possible. You can't be superwoman and your baby is the most important thing right now. Just try and cut back your load if at all possible. But don't rely on caffiene cuz it's bad for baby.Your second trimester you will get some energy back. Than the third the baby will take it all again. Whatever you do, get the rest that you and baby need.

Most likely the sleepiness will go away after a while and then come back before you have the baby. The last week you will have so much energy because you will be so anxious to have the baby. The best thing to do for the time being is to sleep. Later once the baby moves around it will be harder. When your stomach is very large, it will be uncomfortable to sleep at night. Now enjoy the sleep because once you have the little one, you won't get very much!

It will stop, I promise! :) Throughout your first trimester your body is working making your baby and the placenta.. around week 12, the placenta is up and running and it takes a huge load off of you and you will get your energy back. In the mean time, just try to invigorate yourself as much as possible -- prenatal exercise helps a TON - I know you don't feel like doing it, but it will make you feel better.

Ask about getting some Phenergan pronounced FEN-ER-GAN (I think I spelled it wrong) it is for nausea and perfectly fine to use during pregnancy but one of the side effects is you will fall asleep.... deep sleep. If you get a good solid sleep you may not be quite as tired throughout the day. That worked for me.

Are you taking your prenatal vitamins?
Those play an important role in giving your body natural energy.
