First of all, calm down :)
The first thing you need to do is to identify what exactly it is that you have. You've received some excellent advice here, so I won't repeat it all. Virus tracking databases such as Symantec or FSecure are excellent places to try and determine what it is you have.
Once you have figured it out, the next thing you need to do is to determine how to exterminate it. That really will depend on what exactly it is that you have. Again, Symantec or FSecure are places I'd start to look.
If all else fails, you may need to reinstall the OS. That, however, is a last resort. Before then, scan the web for answers, come back here and ask, call a pro... anything you can think of.
Once you've gotten rid of the problem, take a look at how your machine is currently protected. My guess is that it's not. You need to get an anti-virus protector, at least two anti-spyware tools (AdAware and SpyBot are both free), HiJack This (also free), and some sort of firewall. ZoneAlarm personal is free, and works fine for me. It won't stop everyone and everything (nothing does), but it will keep out the morons.
Good luck! It's not fun, I know.

Viruses seem to be the most serious issue in the security section:
First of all, one of the easiest wey to stop online attacks is, STOP USING INTERNET EXPLORER. Ever noticed that add ons can be attached to that particular browser only. As well it uses ActiveX controls, whether you need it not. which allows your computer to be identified. Both Netscape and the latest versin of Firefox gives you the option to use ActiveX when it's actually needed.
Secondly, I would not recommend AVG to anyone. It's crappy and useless. Iknow from having to deal with repairs on infected systems that ran AVG. I would recommend AntiVir Personal edition, whic 100% free, updates and all. http://www.free-av.com.
This is what Linux users use when compelled to run Windows.
The recommendation to use Spybot, I totally agree with, it is the only Spyware/Adware program that identifies and removes Trojans.
Finally it appears that you are not running a firewall for something like this to have happened. Windows firewall if running on your system is quite effective. You need to ensure that it's on. If you are using a system that doesn't, I personally recommend the stand alone Firewall from Symantec, Norton Personal Firewall 2005. The 2005 edition includes an ad blocking software that is not in 2006 that would prevent you from clicking on things that you shouldn't. I hope this helps.

first of all, do u mean virus? second, if you do have a virus back off, no internet or e-mail connection so the computer wont be at more risk. get a filter for your computer that you install so hopefully it can take the virus off. If not you may not be happy about this but you might lose all information and the best thing to do is shut it all down and start the computer over. I no it sounds horrible but the same happened to our computer and we had pictures of us, our whole family and important info but we got through it

You need to first identify it.
Symantec has an online scanner and security check:
http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?productid=symhome&langid=ie&venid=sym
It will help identify the problem.
Make sure to patch your OS
Get the instructions or if available a removal tool to remove the virus
Install AV (like Norton) with an anti-spyware feature
run regular scans and use auto-protect to not let it on the box.

Take it in to best buy or get a computer consultant to come out and fix it up for you. Also, buy McAfee or Symantec anti-virus and firewall and get Ad-Aware for future protection.

Get an antivirus program to eliminate it. The most popular are Norton and Mcafee. Your internet provider should also provide a free antivirus that you can use as well.
