Bouncy Balls

To make bouncy balls we mixed 15 milliliters of liquid Latex, 15 milliliters of water, and 15 milliliters of vinegar. We were able to add color if we wanted. We had to stir the mixture while adding the vinegar so that it would stick to stirring rod. When it was stuck to the rod we put it in water and shaped it into a ball while still in water. After we finished with that we were free to play with them.

Bouncey balls are a hot plastic/rubber substince that gets poured into mold but for extra bounce they vaccum pack then to get all of the air out. For less bouncy balls they put a little air in the center of the ball so thay the bounce is under control!

There is a little information at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bouncy_ball which states that they are made out of rubber and some other chemicals. There is more detail about the Super Ball (manufactured by Wham-O) located at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Ball which states that they are made out of Zectron which contains the synthetic rubber polymer polybutadiene vulcanized with sulfur.
In addition, there is information on the history of the Wham-O Super Ball located at http://www.superballs.com/wham-o_superball_history.htm
