Irony states that college kids, with the advent of "trying something new", are open minded to exasperatingly liberal opinions while in turn close minded to conservative opinions.

It's easy for college kids to feel "enlightened" or "intellectual" by being open to new ideas and experiences on a college campus. The students are looking to put aside the norms of their parents and "discover" their own norms. Unfortunately, college faculties feed off this with their liberal agendas. It leads to a complete lack of absolute truth. Liberalism is seductive and, in its purest form, is more restrictive because it is less tolerant to ideas other than its own.

Part of what you mean is, I suspect, that young people tend to be more open to new ideas (a strong majority for example support gay marriage). That has nothing to do with conservative or liberal in any traditional sense of the words -- but with not yet being ossified, unlike most older people.

I think young people are refreshing, thoughtful and decent -- and if they are closed to conservative opinions, then maybe those of us who are older should rethink our own positions.

Considering a lot of those "college kids" will be attending LIBERAL arts colleges and universities, are we really surprised?! That adjective, LIBERAL arts was not just thrown to those colleges and universities in happenstance. Have you ever heard of a university or college called a CONSERVATIVE ARTS university. NAAAHHHHHHH!!! It takes a lot of post college education, aka: life, to really educate the young individuals who have been indoctrinated into the LIBERAL ARTS dogma. I know. I'm a 3 time graduate of such universities, and it took decades to see the "error of my ways" and see the connection between the name given such universities and my political leanings in my younger years. My best claim to brighter thinking: I voted for Richard M. Nixon as President in 1972, the first chance I had to vote, and I'd do it again and again and again were he still alive and the democrats and media hadn't railroaded him out of the White House. He was one of the greatest men ever to occupy the White House, and though matched by the likes of Reagan and Bush and Bush, he'll never be topped. Glad you asked your question. I first voiced my connection between LIBERAL arts universities and liberal "thinking"/indoctrination to Rush Limbaugh in his magazine maybe 15 years ago, and he printed it, and welcomed me to reality in his reply. You have a great realization, and I'm oh so glad you voice it here. God Bless you.
