It could be a few leak, or a leak in the Evap system. What make and model car is it? If it's a 1996 or newer vehicle and the "Check Engine" lite is on, it's likely an Evap leak (could be just a loose gas cap) If there is no check engine lite on, it's most likely a fuel leak. You should have it checked ASAP!!! A fuel leak could start a fire at any time!

Check the rubber fuel lines. Start under the hood. Unleaded gasoline fumes tend to dry-rot rubber lines. Even rubber fuel lines. Check them for cracks.

verify around the vehicle gasoline lines for gasoline leak everywhere. The leak would no longer be significant that's the reason you ought to have a mechanic seem at it. also, the gasoline tank hose would have a leak too. reliable success.

I would suggest checking if you have any fuel or exhaust leaks, those smells can linger into the cabin easily.

most likely a bad fuel line, though much depends upon the type of car, age, upkeep.

Open the hood and look for fuel lines, look for leaks, use your eyes, nose, hands....

If it is an older car, chaning fuel lines is easy, can do it yourself, though do be cautious....
