I went out with this guy for a short period of time. When I went to his house he had a hammer through the screen of the tv. It was quite a statement and he said it was the best thing he ever did.
I like tv too, but I only watch a handful of shows and sometimes the news. But I don't everyday. Maybe you should buy educational, yet entertaining dvds for your family to watch. Or better yet, shut it off and take the family out on a drive and for some icecream or snow cones.

A lot of it is conditioning... habit. The other aspect is when the TV has become like "one of the family"... someone that you actually relate to and depend on daily. Try planning activities that take the family out and away from TV for a start. Then work some things that are in the home that absolutely require the TV to be off. For certain, dinner together and talking with each other without having the TV competeing for time is a good beginning.

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet...Television is like alcohol, enjoy in moderation....I swore off the television and computer for just under 6 years up until this past fall, and it was the best thing i ever did for myself..i am no longer dependent on the idiot boxes to dictate my entertainment...i may watch a few hours a week and spend the same on the internet, unless i am doing schoolwork....try it...just turn it off, for your sake and your childrens....enlighten their mind, instead of illuminating their glazed over eyes in front of the television

Don't be afraid of what's on TV, it's just entertainment. But, learn to walk away from it once in a while and to live your life the way you know you should rather than how some show tells you to.

Tv was never meant to be a babysitter, but parents have allowed that to happen.
Not in my house. We cook dinner and enjoy dinner. Tv and internet is limited.
