i've recognized the fact that i am a major control freak.
i have figured out some pretty extreme ways to help myself with this over the next few years.
but in general, what are some small ways people can help overcome their controlling habits?

and what makes a person controlling?
is it lack of trust in people and life based on past traumas?
is it the paranoia of an unbalanced situation?
or is it just an extreme trait of personality?

I am a bit of a control freak myself. What I do is stop and realized that what if what I am doing is hurting or affecting someone else. For example, I live with my boyfriend and I am a very neat person, and as you expected, he is not. I made some rules with him that his room can be how ever he wants it but while he's in the living room, it has to be semi neat. What I did was compromise with him. I know that I can't always do things my way, so I figure out the best way possible. Hope this helps some.
