It's in marketing administration and an advanced diploma, how will my experience in sales and customer service relate to the marketing field and help me get a job?

I will be starting the program in september and will have earned the diploma in 3 years (maybe less depending on if I take summer school and such) I've been working on and off in various sales and customer service positions over the last 6-7 years, does this experience relate to the field of marketing and how so? Will it be look good on my resume in relation to a marketing position and how will it help in that sense? Thanks for the answers :)

Your experience will make you a excellent candidate for a marketing position. Marketing is directly related to sales and customer service because marketing is the process of planning and executing the conception, pricing, promotion and distribution of ideas, goods, and services to create exchanges that satisfy individual and organizational objectives. As a sales person, you have found out what a customer wants in a product and how much they are willing to pay, and as a customer service person, have learned how to work with customers to create a positive buying experience...or to rectify a bad one.

Certainly! Having a background in sales is almost always viewed well in the marketing field. Additionally, it sounds as though you have two other things in your favor: a solid work history and going back for your degree. These show that you are a stable worker and one who is looking to improve.

Hope this helps!

Join a marketing association. Create a website and newsletter. You have to be well rounded so that you do not become pigeonholed.

The best thing to do is find a mentor in the industry.
