If you mean footballers as in american football then I would say they wear jockstraps. That is they wear jockstraps while they are playing football. If they don't then they are very stupid. But most guys (if not all) wear jockstraps for contact sports. Outside of sports it is hard to say what they wear. I'd say it varies.
