Wait till you're a little older. The belly button piercings are known for getting infected, and I'm not sure, if at 12, you're ready to commit to taking care of it. It's kind of a silly piercing, anyway. But if you do get it, keep it clean and leave it alone!

I think it would be being like everyone else, too trendy, and as an adult you'll say what the hell was I thinking (worse if you get it infected) BUT I know a lot of kids who did it when I was young (a teenager, I still consider myself young, I'm still in my twenties). Honestly if you want to do it do it, it's not as permanent as a tattoo, you can always change your mind and take it out later, BUT it may scar your navel where it was pierced leaving a funny looking dimple so if/when you decide you no longer want to wear it it will make your belly less naturally attractive (I saw this 40 year old woman who had once had hers pierced, now she was in great shape, and didn't LOOK 40 but when she wore shirts that revealed her navel it just didn't look right anymore, too bad it was the only flaw on her otherwise). I hope you decide not to, BUT if you do make sure you keep it clean and go to a reputable pierer so you don't get it infected!

I am almost 26, I have 4 tattoo, 16 piercings and believe firmly that you should not be allowed to do either until you are 18. If my mother had allowed me to do all of the body modifications I wanted when I was 12, Holy Crap! I would a rainbow colored pin cushion and no person in hteir right mind would hire me.
There are people that I work with now who streatched their ear holes out...nasty. That is never going to look right again.
I only have tattoos that I can cover up if need be and I can easily take out any of my visible jewelry.

The belly button is overdone anyway. Get a cute little nose ring for your 18th birthday. And a tattoo. And your tongue. And...

i think it would personally be a little slutty until you were like maybe 16. i hate it when young girls walk around with there belly button rings and look like they didnt hit puberty!

I dont think you should get it done I think you would look more like a lady with it not done. Boys will treat you like a slut if you was to get it done even if they say they dont think of you that way. I say no way to the navel ring way. Good luck on your choice.

Uh, NOT for kids. Here's why:
1. It HURTS (according to my friend who had it done)
2. Who's gonna see it? I mean, most people do it to look coll for their friends, but you can't wear bbelly shirts at school
3. Your parents will flip
4. What if you get it peirced by a dirty needle and get AIDS? That would be very bad, if you know what I mean.

it would be totally trashy and slutty at your age! and i think any parent that would let you at such a young age get that done doesn't really care much about your wellbeing. you shouldn't have this done until you are 18 and you no longer need a parents consent.
