Old P2 thats been unplugged for awhile is giving me this error....whats its problem?

Depending on the model and age, it likely either means that the disk controller on the motherboard is toast and you're out the motherboard, or the controller card is. The first thing you can do is make sure your hard drive is connected to either the motherboard or to a card connected to the motherboard. Check that all the connections are snug and secure. If they are and if your hard drive has a cable leaving it and connects to your motherboard, then you're probably out of luck unless you know someone with a computer engineering degree. If your hard drive has a cable that leaves it and connects to a card in a slot, then that's your IDE Controller Card and it needs to be replaced. Of course it's also possible that the card hasn't been seated properly. Try pushing it in to verify it's snug and turn the machine back on. Good luck.

the means the controller which is on the moterherboard has failed. this is not something the can be easly fixed.
you can get PCI ide controller cards to bypass the fault if u still want to use the pc again.
