MySpace is plenty safe as long as you're not using it for dating, and you don't put real personal information on it. You don't need to "meet" with people you find or that find you on it.
People who are at danger using it, are people who willingly give up information about themselves that they shouldn't be putting online, and getting attached to people they've never met.

Just as safe as your money is in the stock market!
You put your money in stocks hoping to make loads of money but you can lose it all. Myspace is great way to chat with friends but strangers you meet on there can be anybody. They might a 45 year old man claiming to be a 17 year old or vice versa.

It is safe as long as you are careful as to what you put on your page. Obviously dont put any personal info. I would set your profile to "private" so that only people who are your approved friends can view it. And you can also set it to only accept messages from people who are your approved friends.
I think as long as you are careful and safe, myspace is awesome and a great way to keep in touch with family and friends and make some new friends.

It is as safe as you make it. You should never ever give out personel information to anyone you do not know IRL. Treat everyone as a stranger who shouldn't be trusted and you should be fine.
