This is far from being true. When I lived in France, if anything, the French hated when Americans tourists came to France and choose not understand and respect the language and culture. A lot of the time, the French would say, "We don't hate Americans, we just hate Bush". But of course this isn't everyone! Just like here in America--not everyone likes Bush but not everyone hates Bush either.

the french do not hate americans. they hate loud and rude americans who do not attempt to address them in french.
when i was in france last summer, i made an effort to begin every conversation in french. It was much appreciated and usually yielded kindness and/or a willingness to help with my question, food order, ect. Just so it's clear, I do not speak a word of french and had to contantly carry an english to french dictionary. they're quite helpful.

I've been here three years, and I've never had anyone respond badly to me because of my nationality. The French people I've talked with truly can't comprehend the actions of the Bush administration, but then neither can I.

We don't hate you, only idiots do. But there are some aspects of your culture that we can't understand, and misunderstanding easily leads to hate, if people don't do the effort to accept differences.
